New ISI Web of Knowledge resources
The Health Sciences Library welcomes three new additions to the ISI Web of Knowledge. All ISI products are interlinked with Science Citation Index and Medline for more flexible searching, and are also featured as individual resources on our Databases page.
Remember that all of our databases link to the full text of an article if we own it or give you the option of ordering through inter-library loan!
Biological Abstracts monitors every field of the life sciences, from botany to microbiology to pharmacology, and abstracts articles from over 4,000 journals.
Current Contents Connect is a multidisciplinary current awareness resource that provides bibliographic information from over 8,000 of the world's leading scholarly journals and more than 2,000 books.
The Social Sciences Citation Index provides abstracts from 1,700 social sciences journals, covering more than 50 disciplines. It features cited reference searching from 1996 to the present. School of Public Health researchers will find it particularly useful.

“My NCBI” Features on PubMed
Take full advantage of PubMed and other Entrez databases by creating a customized account using “My NCBI.” “My NCBI” takes the place of the old Cubby feature. It allows you to:
• Store search strategies and receive e-mail alerts of new results at scheduled intervals
• Apply filters, including a filter which limits your results to NYMC-owned items
This is how you create the limit to NYMC holdings. Once you do it you’ll have an NYMC tab
in My NCBI when you log in:
1) Enter PubMed
2) In the upper right corner of the screen, where it says “My NCBI”, either log in using your old Cubby password or register and log in
3) On the blue sidebar, click on “My NCBI”
4) Then on the blue left sidebar, click on “Filters”
5) Choose PubMed as the database you wish to configure by clicking on it from the list
6) Click on the resulting “Browse” tab
7) Click on “Libraries” under LinkOut
8) Scroll down to “New York Medical College Library” and click on it
9) Check “Add a result tab for all items that match this filter”
Now when you are in “My NCBI,” an “nymclib” tab will appear which will limit results to NYMC holdings. NOTE: after logging in you will need to click on “My NCBI” on the left sidebar to see this tab.
As an alternative, you can also limit to NYMC holdings by adding “AND loprovnymclib[filter]” to any search e.g.:
diabetic foot AND loprovnymclib[filter]

E-Journal Portal no longer requires On-Campus users to login
In a constant effort to improve seamless access to Library resources, we have made a few changes by adding a smart system that detects your ip address and allows access to the E-Journal Portal. On-Campus users do not need to login but off-Campus users will be prompted to login with their barcode and passwords. This feature enables access to all library resources with just one login.
June 11, 2004
E-Journal Portal is now available
A comprehensive E-Journal Portal is now available for our users via proxy services. All library ejournals can be accessed with a library barcode from anywhere. Ejournals can now be searched or browsed with this portal. Please tell us what you think of these services.

E-Journals
Page Can Be Saved as a "Favorite"
As
per our entry of April 15 (below), the E-Journals page was removed from
the HSL web menu as of May 1, 2004. The page no longer offered the best
access to our users. Complete instructions for the methods of accessing
e-journals can be found on the HSL tipsheet, "Finding
Full-Text on the Library's Web Site." Also, it should be noted,
for those who still prefer it, the old E-Journals Page is still
available (but will not be updated and will no longer appear on
our menu) at http://library.nymc.edu/database/journalist.htm.
You may wish to add this link to your "favorites". The library
is currently exploring products which will allow us to create a fully-functional
A-Z list of our electronic journals. We do apologize to those of you
who find this an inconvenience, but the old list caused much confusion
to our off-campus users and did not provide complete access to all of
our titles.
April
15, 2004
Effective May 1, 2004, the "E-Journals" page will be removed from the Health Sciences Library's website. This old list of full text journal titles (approx. 970) is no longer a complete list nor is it up to date. We now have over 5,000 electronic journals, all of which have been added to our online catalog. Since our focus is to maintain our Online Catalog as our master list, it is not effective for us or for you to keep this page. For the most complete holdings information (print and electronic), please search our Online Catalog or Databases page. If you still prefer to use the "E-Journals" webpage, it will be archived so that you can save it as a "favorite". Please save it as a "favorite" before May 1st. Again, this archived list is not maintained.
